Graduation Policy

In order to graduate, a student must satisfactorily complete the course of study as prescribed by the Missouri State Board of Nursing:

Clinical Rotations

Anatomy & Physiology Pharmacology

Personal & Vocational Concepts Mental Health Nursing

Nutrition Maternal & Newborn Nursing

Growth & Development Nursing of Children

Fundamentals of Nursing Nursing of the Elderly

IV Therapy Leadership/Management Concepts

Nursing of Adults

Fundamentals of Nursing Nursing of Children

IV Therapy Nursing of the Elderly

Nursing of Adults Nursing Management

Administration of Medications Phlebotomy

Mental Health Nursing Maternal & Newborn Nursing

 

In order to progress in the program a student must have a minimum of an 80% at the end of each theory course of study and for each clinical rotation, specific criteria must be met.

Each student pays a graduation fee of $35.00 .... this covers the cost of the ceremony. This fee is due one month before graduation.       

Four months before graduating, each student will complete two applications related to taking the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN):

  • National Council of State Boards of Nursing
    submit a completed application form   +   $200.00 money order   
  • Missouri State Board of Nursing 
    submit a completed application form   +   $ 41.00 money order   

Some of the questions on the application form are as follows:

1.     Have you ever been convicted to any crime?
2.     Have you ever been convicted to any traffic offense resulting from or related to the use of drugs or alcohol?
3.     Have you ever had a judgment rendered against you based upon fraud, misrepresentation, deception, or malpractice?
4.     Do you currently, or did you within the past five years, use any prescription drug, controlled substance, illegal chemical substance, or alcohol to the point where your ability to practice as a licensed practical nurse would be affected?
5.     Are you now being treated, or have your been treated within the past five years, through a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program?                                

In addition, the application requires copy of applicants birth certificate and drivers license, and criminal background checks with electronic fingerprinting are completed by the FBI and the Missouri Highway Patrol.  The student will  register online and will need on the day of fingerprinting a money order for $44.80. The receipt for electronic fingerprinting is submitted with the application to the Missouri State Board of Nursing.  

These fees are non-refundable.  The amounts of all these fees (money orders) are subject to change.  You will be notified of any changes as soon as possible
