Computer Networking & Security I
2 semesters – 3 periods
Grades Eligible:  11, 12, Adult

Students will study the Cisco Academy IT Essentials and the CCNA Routing and Switching curriculum of the two year program. Students will develop skills in computer repair/maintenance, hardware/software troubleshooting, a working knowledge of routing, switching, network applications and protocols, along with configuring a simple local area network.  Besides the hands on training in the classroom, students will participate in various projects around the school district. Students will be encouraged to test for the CompTia A+ and CCENT certifications.

Computer Networking & Security II
2 semesters – 3 periods
Grades Eligible: 12, Adult
Prerequisites:  Computer Networking & Security I with a minimum of C- and instructor approval

Students will study advanced computer networking concepts of the Cisco Academy CCNA Routing and Switching curriculum.  Year 2 students will develop skills in repairing networks and server infrastructure hardware, router and switch configurations for advanced functionality in larger and more complex networks, monitoring and troubleshooting wide area network operations, and configuring medium to large sized networks. Students will also be exposed to Microsoft Server Operating Systems, and Active Directory Administration, as well as virtualization (VMware concepts). Students will be encouraged to test for the CCNA certification.

  • High School Students: Contact your school's guidance counselor.   Prerequisites may apply.
  • Adult Students: 
    • Schedule to take WorkKeys with the CTC assessment office
    • Complete an application & make deposit ($100)
    • Provide proof of HS graduation (or GED)
    • Submit background check form

  • Classes Schedule: Monday - Friday
    • August - May (Following the Cape Girardeau Public Schools Calendar).
    • Typical Morning block schedule is 8:25 - 10:5
    • Typical Afternoon block schedule is 12:15 - 2:40
