The Medication Technician course is designed for EXPERIENCED Certified Nurse Assistants in nursing homes who would like to increase their skills and learn to administer medications.
Medication Technician
Upon successful completion of this course & the passing of the state examination, the certified medication technician will be qualified to pass medications in any long term care facility. 

This challenging course meets Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services guidelines. Successful graduates receive state certification in administration of non-parenteral medications.

Practice in administering medications is provided through classroom labs, as well as supervised experience in the student’s own approved facility.

Applicants must be Certified Nurse Assistant in Missouri employed in an approved training facility, must pass the TABE test (given at The Career and Technology Center), and be a high school graduate or equivalent prior to the start of the course.

Must be active on the Missouri State Registry for 6 months prior to class with a letter of approval from the facility's Director of Nursing.

The Certified Medication Technician program at the Cape CTC begins in March.  Students meet two days per week (Tuesday & Thursday) for 8 weeks from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

To apply for the CMT program, individuals must:
*Be employed as a CNA (on MO State Registry for 6 months)
*Complete an application and a background check
